What is CBD?
CBD is short for cannabidiol. It is just one of several different molecules found in the cannabis plant known as cannabinoids. CBD can act as a neurotransmitter and is also known to have antioxidant properties. Can also help with reducing inflammation post-workout.
What is CBD oil?
CBD oil is a natural essential oil which is extracted from the cannabis plant. It is used by people all over the world as a dietary supplement and for a variety of therapeutic purposes.
What are Cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are active compounds produced by all cannabis plants. They account for most of the health benefits of cannabis. Cannabinoids found in plants are technically called phytocannabinoids. Phytocannabinoids can mimic neurotransmitters that we call endocannabinoids, which are produced naturally by our bodies.
How does CBD work?
CBD can act as a neurotransmitter. Neurotransmitters help to regulate bodily systems at a cellular level. CBD has been shown to have effects on a wide array of systems in the human body such as the immune system, the nervous system, the endocrine system, the cardiovascular system, the digestive system, the heart, liver, and kidneys, the epidermis and others. CBD is also known to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
Is CBD a drug?
Although CBD is used as a component in a drug known as Epidiolex, which is used to treat seizure disorders, CBD oil or hemp oil is not considered to be a drug. Also, CBD / hemp oil does not cause a high like marijuana.
Is ‘more CBD’ better?
Maybe. A good example is that we love salt but simply having more salt doesn’t make a recipe or restaurant better. In fact, at some point, too much salt makes the food to salty to eat! The type of salt matters too and maybe people would argue that Himalayan sea salt is better than old fashioned table salt because of all the other trace minerals and nutrients that are present.
At Millie, we believe in formulating products that are balanced and specific to their purpose. That is why we use broad-spectrum hemp oil and adjust dosages to the products intended use. Although hemp oil is very important in our products, the balance of recipe is just as important to deliver you the best products you can buy. A great example is our line of skin care products that have incredible formulations, even without our broad-spectrum hemp oil, that deliver fantastic results for your skin. Throw our hemp oil at the appropriate portions and our great base products get even better!
Is CBD oil legal?
CBD is not considered a Schedule I controlled substance and is not illegal under the Controlled Substance Act.
Is Broad-Spectrum CBD oil safe to carry through an airport?
Yes. Under the current 2018 Farm Bill hemp oil products are legal in all 50 states so you are safe to travel with your THC free Millie products.
What are the benefits of taking Broad-Spectrum CBD products?
Broad-spectrum CBD users report a wide range of benefits including improved mood, reduced stress, improved temporary sleeplessness, reduced discomfort and many other benefits. Broad-spectrum products generally seem to perform better than products formulated with CBD isolate only due the benefits of the entourage effect, or benefits of the other minor cannabinoids and terpenes. Different people experience different results and your results may vary.
What is a CBD tincture?
A CBD tincture is an oil that is meant to be swallowed. Typically, you put a dropper under your tongue, hold the tincture for 30-60 seconds and then swallow. This is a great method of delivery because the CBD can be absorbed directly into the blood stream via the capillaries found in your mouth.
What is the ideal serving size?
This is very similar to talking about what the ideal ‘dose’ is (see the dosage FAQ for additional information). In general, the ideal serving or dose varies for each person depending on a wide range of variables including our age, sex, weight, activity level, diet, desired outcome and the reason it’s being used. We commonly hear of people using a wide range of dosages with great effect ranging from as low as 5-10mg up to 50-100mg/day. As with any supplement, do your research, start slow, and consult your medical professional for more advice.
What are the dosage recommendations for CBD products?
We can’t make any dosing recommendations and recommend you do further research. CBD and hemp oil affect everyone differently, so do your research to see what you think would work best for you. A couple of good links for research are:
Is it possible to take too much CBD?
There are no studies that we know of indicating that anyone has ever overdosed on CBD. Extremely large doses of CBD may cause drowsiness and we always recommend moderation for the use of any products that can affect your body.
Will CBD get me high?
No. CBD is non-psychotropic and does not cause a high.
Does CBD have a shelf life? How should I store my products?
Some of the products we use CBD in might have an expiration date. Please refer to the expiration dates on our products for additional guidance. Good general care is the storing of CBD products in cool places away from direct sunlight in either air tight or securely closed containers.
Will CBD help me if I am generally healthy?
YES! CBD and the other cannabinoids in our products help support your body’s overall health and wellness, promote the ability to help maintain homeostasis, may reduce post-exercise inflammation, and may act as an antioxidant.
Is CBD water soluble?
Normally, oils like CBD oil are not water soluble. Millie has partnered with key suppliers with processes that encapsulates the CBD oil into nano-sized emulsion particles which are water soluble. This allows the CBD to be more absorbable and bio-available whether taken orally or used externally.
How often can I take CBD?
There is no hard and fast rule. For general health and wellness, we typically see people take it both morning and night but depending on your desired outcome (i.e. taking it to sleep better), you might only want to take it once a day. Results may vary.
Why should I choose CBD over medical cannabis?
That is a personal decision! Medical cannabis is another term for medical marijuana which contains THC and can cause the feeling of being ‘high’. The state of being high can cause different types of impairments and may have undesirable side effects.
Our products with CBD do not contain THC and will not produce the psychotropic or ‘high’ effects of medical cannabis.
What is CBD used for?
Hemp products, and thus CBD, have been used for thousands of years in traditional medicine. Today, most people use CBD to promote overall health and wellness by supporting the body’s homeostasis otherwise known as its natural balance. Cannabinoids are an essential part of the body and support the endocannabinoid system which helps regulate a wide variety of physiological systems.
Is THC necessary for CBD to work?
No. This was a common belief before more research was done regarding hemp’s other cannabinoids. New information has shown that THC and CBD can sufficiently function without the other. Broad spectrum products that are THC-free but still have several other cannabinoids present are the most beneficial as the cannabinoids are able to complement each other’s individual effects.
Can I give my pet CBD?
Pets have endocannabinoid systems just like us! Our bacon flavored dog treats are most commonly used for dogs and our tinctures are typically used for all kinds of pets including dogs and cats. Like with people and their medical providers, it’s always good to speak with your veterinarian before starting you pets on CBD.
How does CBD work in pets?
It works the same way it works in people, by stimulating the endocannabinoid system to create balance in the body.
Where is hemp grown?
Our hemp is grown and processed in beautiful Colorado, as of now, but in the future we may choose to find supply partners in other markets as they meet our specifications and quality requirements in other areas of the United States.
What is hemp seed oil?
Hemp seed oil is distinct from CBD oil. While CBD is produced by extracting the essential oils from the cannabis plant’s flowers, hemp seed oil is produced by pressing the plant’s seeds. Hemp oil is similar to other seed oils such as corn oil and sesame oil. Hemp oil does not contain cannabinoids such as CBD.
How is hemp different from marijuana?
Unlike marijuana, hemp contains remarkably low amounts (less than 0.3%) of THC. THC is the psychoactive compound in marijuana.
What is hemp extract?
Hemp Extract is produced from industrial hemp that contains less than 0.3% THC on a dry-weight basis. It is extracted from the stalks and stems of the plant to produce the hemp extract which contain multiple cannabinoids. The hemp plant is full of non-psychoactive cannabinoinds and less than 0.3% of the psychoactive cannabinoids.
What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?
Hemp and marijuana are both types of cannabis. Whereas marijuana contains a cannabinoid known as THC, which causes a high and is known as a drug, hemp contains negligible amounts of THC, does not cause a high and is not considered to be a drug.
Where is the hemp sourced?
We choose our supply partners very carefully and trace all of our materials from origination, thru extraction and on to final testing before they become Millie products. We have high standards to make sure we are supplying the best products in the industry and all of our products are non-GMO, pesticide free and grown outside with organic practices but they haven’t been certified by the USDA (yet!). Currently all of our products are sourced and processed in Colorado but that may change as we find supply partners that meet our standards in other parts of the U.S.
What are terpenes?
Terpenes are another class of compounds found in hemp. Terpenes are what give cannabis its distinct aromas and have been utilized by humans for millennia in a healing modality known as aromatherapy. Terpenes are recognized as safe for human consumption by the Food and Drug Administration and are used in a wide variety of food and cosmetic products.
What is the endocannabinoid system?
The human endocannabinoid system, or ECS, is a system of neurotransmitters and cell membrane receptors. Neurotransmitters such as endocannabinoids are produced by the central nervous system and interact with cannabinoid receptors on cell membranes to adjust physiological processes at a cellular level.
Can your products cure/treat my condition?
CBD oil is used by many people to treat a variety of conditions however we do not and cannot make any claims regarding the conditions that CBD can treat. CBD has not approved by the FDA in the treatment of any conditions aside from particular seizure disorders. Nonetheless, there have been numerous studies which suggest that CBD may be an effective therapy for a wide range of health issues. As with any supplement, please consult with a qualified medical professional to determine if your condition could be helped by using CBD and we always encourage you to consult your medical professional before making any changes to your current therapies.

What is the difference between CBD and hemp?
Hemp is a family of cannabis strains which are grown for food and fibers. CBD is a molecular compound found in the plant’s extracts. Millie sources our CBD from suppliers that have proprietary stains of hemp known as PCR hemp — or phytocannabinoid-rich hemp. This proprietary strain is far richer in CBD and other cannabinoids and terpenes than the basic hemp plant used by most CBD producers.
What is the difference between Isolate, Full Spectrum, and Broad Spectrum?
Isolate is typically 99% pure isolate CBD while full spectrum and broad spectrum tend to be used more interchangeably, creating some confusion, since there is no real accepted definition to either term.
At Millie, we use the following terminology for clarification:
Full Spectrum - Hemp oil containing cannabinoids, terpenes, and THC at some level. This is typically below 0.3%.
Broad Spectrum - Hemp oil containing cannabinoids, terpenes, but has ZERO THC (0%). This is what we use in our products.
Isolate - concentrated formulas of specific substances. Example would be CBD isolate that is typically 99% CBD concentrate.
We try to develop products that are ‘Broad Spectrum’ meaning they contain many cannabinoids and terpenes, but they are 0.0% THC. There is still a lot of debate in the market as to what these terms mean, and which is better, so be sure to do your research and understand how each company defines their products.
At Millie, we believe in giving you the good stuff, cannabinoids and terpenes, and providing you with a THC-free experience. The overall benefit of the ‘entourage effect’ of all the cannabinoids and terpenes working together is likely more beneficial than just CBD as a single molecule alone.
Are there traces of THC in CBD oil?
Hemp products may contain traces of THC, but our processing ensures you products are THC free and we test them to confirm this.
Can I see your lab reports?
Yes! Simply scan the QR code on your product to see the certificate of authenticity (COA) that corresponds to your product and manufacturing batch.
Do you test for potency, pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals and residual solvents?
Yes. We want to deliver the safest and most effective products possible, so all Millie products are tested for concentration and purity including that our products are free of THC, pesticides and other contaminants.
What kind of testing/analysis is performed on your products?
All Millie products go through extensive testing by in-house labs at our suppliers and at third party labs. All of our testing is available for our products by clicking on the QR code on the product that will show the results of the batch used for that particular product being manufactured.
Is your product safe?
CBD is well tolerated in humans and we do not know of any studies that report adverse effects or illness resulting from CBD use. CBD is non-addictive. All Millie products go through extensive testing both in the supply chain and in our finished products to ensure that they are free of THC or other harmful contaminants.
How do I choose a product that is right for me?
The ideal method for taking CBD depends on the reason for which it’s being taken as well as other factors such as age and weight. If using CBD oil as a supplement for health maintenance, tinctures or capsules are recommended. If treating a particular medical condition, consult with a qualified medical professional for advice on the ideal method of administration for your condition.
How much CBD is in your products?
This varies from product to product and the total CBD dosage in milligrams (mg) is on the label of all of our products, so you know what you are getting. Please refer to our website or product labels for more information on how much CBD is in each of our products.
How does your product differ from others?
Millie products are specifically developed for their specific uses with custom formulations that emphasize elevated potency and easy absorption. Millie products are all grown using organic methods but cannot yet be technically certified as organic.
Are your products vegan friendly?
All of our products are vegan friendly with the exception of our softgels.

All Millie products are gluten-free and dairy free.
Do your products contain THC?
No! All Millie products are THC free.
Why should I use your products?
Our products are for people looking to take control of their health and wellness, from the inside out, in a natural way. Many current ‘health and wellness’ products contain unnecessary chemicals that serve one main purpose: to increase their shelf life. It’s also rare to find a product with an intelligent and synergistic blend of herbs. We use our intimate knowledge of herbs to develop products that nourish, protect, and promote natural health and wellness. Our product design philosophy is to have highly effective, nature-based products that are ‘free of’ the bad stuff and ‘full of’ the good stuff. That includes amazing natural products like CBD and other botanicals, oils, and ingredients that make effective products you will love.
Will your products make me break out?
Everyone is different, so we always recommend that you test your products on a small area of skin if you are sensitive to make sure your skin likes us. Our products are designed to actually be effective (vs. just smelling good or feeling good but doing no good!) so sometimes you might experience a chance in your skin for a period of time as you adjust to the new products before you see the full results.
Has the FDA approved the ingredients in your products?
No, the FDA has not reviewed or approved any of our products. However, the FDA recently approved a CBD-based drug called Epidiolex for the treatment of particular types of difficult-to-treat seizure disorders.
What is your return policy?
If you buy from our website you have 30 days to return your products if not satisfied for a money-back guarantee. If you purchase from one of our retail partners, you purchase is subject to our partner’s return policies.
Where are your products available for purchase?
Online at www.millie.co or at any of our retail partners across the United States.
TESTING AND REGULATION
Will I pass a drug test?
We can’t make any recommendations or guarantees regarding drug testing. Although our products typically have zero THC we cannot give guidance or advice. If you are concerned over drug testing, we would recommend you do more research before consuming any CBD or hemp oil products.
Is hemp legal?
YES. The 2018 Farm Bill created further clarification regarding hemp and hemp products. In addition to the 2018 bill, the legality of Cannabidiol from hemp is also supported by a 2004 unanimous ruling by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which determined that the DEA “cannot regulate naturally-occurring THC not contained within or derived from marijuana, i.e., non-psychoactive hemp is not included in Schedule I. The DEA has no authority to regulate drugs that are not scheduled.”
